Refund Policy
This Refund Policy explains how and when you may receive a refund when shopping on Data Technology, Egypt’s second-hand fashion marketplace. By placing an order you agree to the terms below. This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Buyer Protection terms.
1. How Data Technology Protects You
Every order on Data Technology is covered by Buyer Protection. Your payment is held securely by Data Technology and is not released to the seller until you confirm, at your door, that you are satisfied with your item. This means you inspect what you bought before any money reaches the seller.
Because acceptance happens at the door through a one-time confirmation code (OTP), Data Technology does not operate a separate post-delivery returns or dispute window. The moment of delivery is your opportunity to accept or reject the item.
2. Inspect Before You Accept
When your delivery agent arrives, you will receive a 4-digit confirmation code by push notification and SMS. Before sharing this code:
- Open the package and inspect the item fully — check the condition, size, colour, and that it matches the listing.
- Only share the code with the agent once you are satisfied and wish to keep the item.
- Once you share the code, the transaction is final. No refund, return, or dispute is possible after this point.
If the item is not what you expected, simply do not share the code. Tell the agent you are rejecting the delivery. This is your right and is the way to receive a refund.
3. When You Are Entitled to a Refund
You are entitled to a refund in the following situations, depending on how you paid:

A full refund means the entire amount you paid — the item price, the Buyer Protection Fee, and the shipping fee — is returned to you. Nothing is withheld when you reject a delivery.
4. When a Refund Is Not Available
Refunds are not available in the following cases:
- After you have shared your confirmation code and the order is marked Completed. At this point the transaction is final and irreversible.
- Change of mind after accepting the item. Please inspect carefully at the door, as this is the only point of acceptance.
- Fees paid to promote or feature a listing. Feature/promotion purchases are non-refundable, including if the listing is later removed or rejected.
5. How Refunds Are Processed
Prepaid orders (card, Meeza, or Fawry): Refunds are issued automatically through our payment provider, Kashier, back to your original payment method. You do not need to contact us to start a refund — it is triggered the moment a delivery is rejected or an eligible order is cancelled.
Cash on Delivery (COD): Because you only pay in cash once you accept the item at your door, a rejected or failed COD delivery means no money changes hands. There is nothing to refund.
Refund amounts are based on what you actually paid for that order. The amount is fixed at the time of your order and is not affected by any later change to our fees or shipping rates.
6. Refund Timing
Data Technology initiates eligible refunds immediately once a delivery is rejected or an order is cancelled. The time for the funds to appear in your account depends on your bank or card issuer and is outside Data Technology’s control. Most refunds are reflected within a few business days. You can follow the status of a refund in the order details screen under My Orders.
7. Repeated COD Rejections
Cash on Delivery relies on trust. If you reject COD deliveries 2 times within any 30-day period, the COD payment option will be temporarily disabled on your account. You can still shop using prepaid payment methods. This protects sellers and keeps delivery costs sustainable for everyone.
8. Transactions Outside Data Technology
Data Technology’s Buyer Protection and refund rights only apply to orders paid for and completed within the Data Technology app. Any payment or arrangement made outside the app — including paying a seller directly — is not protected and is not eligible for any refund. Never share contact details or pay outside Data Technology.
